Who sucks most at keeping a conversation going, guys or babes?

The art of texting
According to social media, Nigerian men can do better at texting.

Twitter Naija has brought out another topic from its goody bag.

The lofty art of texting and ability to keep a conversation going is what's popping on the timeline.
Who is responsible for keeping a conversation interesting, the guy or the babe? As usual, this argument on the timeline is split according to gender lines.

Guys think that Nigerian babes suck at initiating a conversation and texting guys. For women, it is vice-versa, with the bonus sentiment that Naija guys suck at texting women.

Twitter sometimes is a bubble and Pulse Gist reached out to someone outside the 140-word sphere to get an opinion on this issue.

"I definitely believe that it's both the woman and the guy's job to keep the conversation going. It can't be one-sided" says Abi Awoyemi, who lives in Essex.
She goes on to say that she can initiate contact and a conversation if she finds a guy interesting. "If he's a good conversationalist, I see why not to text first for a laugh," she says.
Abi, however, says it is just a few guys that can actually hold conversations.

Ladies insist that if they are feeling a guy, they would be eager to text and gist. It all boils down to interest. "I do think the ladies hold the conversation when they like the guy."
When they are not into you, that's when slow replies, limited response and "no room for extras" occur.
A quick survey identifies the trigger words women hate when a guy slides into their DMs or starts texting with them. You can see them below;

1) Sup?
2) What are you doing?
3) Can you send me one of your photos?
4) Tell me about yourself?
5) Why are you snubbing me?
Chances are that if you are a guy and reading this, you are guilty of using at least two of the words, phrases above.
Many men have been curved by Twitter damsels for these so-called cardinal sins. Several of their "hi" or "hello" tweets have gathered dust in DMs. For most guys, there is nothing more annoying and frustrating than an unanswered text.
How do you make a chick 'feel you'? You must approach, shoot your shot and get a conversation going. For some, they believe the 'interest' concept is a scam by most women.
"Somebody said on Twitter that "Tell me about yourself" is too broad when you're having a conversation. She said it's better if you ask direct questions. But they also say asking direct questions is like you're interviewing them, never mind that it feels this way because they don't understand that a conversation is a two-way street" says Tola, 24.
To him, this confusion on how to approach a woman on social media stems from his fact that most of them are not interested in honest deep-diving conversations. He believes most women are interested in the superficial and are only interested in you when you tick certain attributes.
"They all say the person is more important than the physical aspects but it's a lie.
"Is he fine? Lightskin? Beard? Car? How much money do I perceive that he has? Does it seem like he will kill me with (small) enjoyment? Stuff like that" further states Tola.

This narrative surely exists within timelines. Transactional relationships are big in Nigeria, there is no hiding that. A lot of women decide who they talk to based off what guys are offering. With this system, you can easily come to the conclusion that women don't care about texting styles and deep questions. These are not their criteria.
Whatever the truth is, whether you have a sloppy intro or the babe you are texting is more interested in your bank account, do not be afraid of your rejection.
Most guys beat around the bush and don't go straight to the point. Just shoot your shot, if she feels you good, if she doesn't, there's no problem. It's a 50-50 thing. Either she really likes the way you approached her or she likes your baller personality on social media.
The trick is to approach with confidence and that is what most guys are lacking.
